Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
J.K. Rowling

Description
'Turning the envelope over, his hand trembling, Harry saw a purple wax seal bearing a coat of arms; a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake surrounding a large letter 'H'.' Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!
Review
It's Harry Potter common, we know it's a 5 star read. I'm currently on a binge and I'll just add my observations as I'm trying to fill in all the gaps I have from my childhood.
Anyhoo it is a story about a wizard that didn't know he was one until he recieved a letter from a school that teaches magic. He and his his parents were famous for distrupting the plans of an evil dark wizard. As he tries to fit in admist rivalry and hidden talents, he finds out that the evil wizard is trying to make a comeback which he (Harry) stops by working with his friends to defeat puzzles and eventually his teacher who was voldermort's (the evil wizard) henchman.
Here are the observations:
-
Harry was quite a mischievous character for someone that just joined a new world/school
-
Ron is actually quite patient and brave (being the first person to sacrifice himself and all)
-
The kids were too comfortable with the concept of dying especially for Harry and Hermoine
-
I wouldn't have been friends with Hermoine. Nobody like a know-it-all
