The McMasters Guide To Homicide; Vol 1: Murder Your Employer

Description

The McMasters Conservatory for the Applied Arts - a luxurious, clandestine college dedicated to the fine art of murder where earnest students study how best to 'delete' their most deserving victim. Who hasn’t wondered for a split second what the world would be like if a person who is the object of your affliction ceased to exist? But then you’ve probably never heard of The McMasters Conservatory, dedicated to the consummate execution of the homicidal arts. To gain admission, a student must have an ethical reason for erasing someone who deeply deserves a fate no worse (nor better) than death. The campus of this “Poison Ivy League” college—its location unknown to even those who study there—is where you might find yourself the practice target of a classmate…and where one’s mandatory graduation thesis is getting away with the perfect murder of someone whose death will make the world a much better place to live. Prepare for an education you’ll never forget. A “fiendishly funny” (Booklist) mix of witty wordplay, breathtaking twists and genuine intrigue, Murder Your Employer will gain you admission into a wholly original world, cocooned within the most entertaining book about well-intentioned would-be murderers you’ll ever read.

Review

This ended my trilogy of homicide books. This was a very interesting and funny concept that makes you wonder if a school like this exists in real life. Think of McMasters as a type of Hogwarts for Deletists (as they prefer to be called). They take killing as a means to a very legitimate end and it puts a good spin on the grey area type of books because if we are being honest, the employers deserve it.

The book as the title suggests is meant to be a guide (first of it's kind) to how things work at McMasters which is a school that only a few of the staff members know the actual location in the world. It does this by taking he reader through the life and thoughts of three students as they navigate their way into completing their thesis (also referred to as a "Deletion"), two of which were successful. I love how it takes a very academic albeit twisted approach to homicide.

For those that enjoy reading the books where the villains win, this is one where the police don't even have a chance. For example, after one student was done with her thesis, the police were looking for the wrong gender 😂. There's even a little plot twist at the end (Two if I add the cliffhanger). Also I don't know if there's a second book coming out but I sincerely hope so.
