Inefficiently Efficient Dawdling

Like the last days of October
When three seasons blend together seamlessly
- A. S
There are times you feel like the days are the ones moving you and you’re just a rolling stone. Those times when you can’t even muster up enough strength for thinking but can churn out a literature review of 6 papers in less than a day and have an 80% plan of how certain things should go but then turn around in the same breath to ignore everything and stare at your phone the whole day as your brain screams at you to get up and actually follow the plans you outlined but your body just decides it doesn’t want to listen; so you increase the volume of that youtube video of a stupid chinese drama that’s basically the same cliche plot you’ve been watching for the past 1 and half days across several channels 😮💨. Anyways, October.
My month started on independence day and it really wasn't worth anything. I spent most of the day preparing for my school presentation which, as I've maybe mentioned, is now weekly (most times). It was still back to the drawing board for me because I still have a wonky topic and need to adjust my objectives. I still had tasks to complete for the week, so it didn't even feel like a new month or a holiday.
I got off my lazy self for a bit and decided to have a full salon day because it has been a while, it would probably take weeks or maybe over a month before I do something like that again but at least I'm fairly consistent. I hit a new low on my water journey. I don't know how else to get myself to drink more water because the year is ending and I've made zero progress. Though cheers to all those that have tried their best to help me on my journey to standard hydration.
I spent a few days in Minna and got to see my kiddies again. We had fun times together and I know it seems funny to say I had fun conversations with 5 and 2 year olds but I did. The highlight of my month and the trip to Minna though was the SCA minna x GDG minna outreach program for introducing girls to career paths in tech which was an extension of the Stem a Girl campaign by She Code Africa. I had a great time talking with girls and they were really enthusiastic about learning. I was scared of how the event would turn out because everyone says teenagers are scary and would probably leave us talking to ourselves but these girls were just lovely and very interactive. It's a great feeling to give back to the community as much as you can. I look forward to doing something similar again soon because this was a huge success.
After getting back from Minna, I was really ill. It started with a mild temperature increase on the day I got back from Minna and at first I assumed it was just me being weary because I was car sick at some point. It quickly escalated to a full blown fever for about 4 days and I even got the bonus of a cold for 3 more days (Fun right? 😒). I spent over a week just existing. In any case, this was the worst my health has been for the past 2 years and I hope I don't experience anything like that for a really long time but Alhamdulillah.
After recovering I had so much to take care of and things have only just started getting stable. There was school work, some personal development processes, side gigs and a whole lot of things to get through. Honestly I was more productive after I recovered than I was before I fell ill. After everything that happened, I finally remembered journaling a few days to the end and just procrastinated till the 31st. I'm writing this entirely from my head because I honestly forgot about a monthly recap so just accept this as the only thing my currently recovering brain can remember. October has always been an odd month for as long as I could remember. It’s almost like the year ends in October and we just take two more months to get our affairs in order. So here’s to the month of ALMOST ENDINGS 🥂.
